Here are five reasons why Amazon can raise Prime $20 or $200 and you should still pay it. (and why I will still pay it, and what we can learn from them)
1. Amazon Is Fast
The firm not only revolutionized delivery by second day free shipping, but over-delivered by sometimes getting the product to me NEXT DAY for no additional charge. Through what company have you ever had this happen multiple times!? I cannot name one other than Amazon. Supposedly now they have technology where they start processing your order before you click "Confirmed". Now I'm afraid that if I even just look at the website on someone else's screen and think about a product hard enough, it will show up at my door.
2. Amazon Is Easy
Just think and type, oh wait we thought you may have meant this. Oh we don't have it? Here is 3.2 billion 3rd party providers who can supply this for you through us. Finally you can order the ninja stars you have always wanted, with ease!
3. Amazon Is Available On Anything
Desktop web, IPad, Surface, IOS, Android, iPhone, Galaxy, Stone Tablet, etc.
4. Amazon Cares
I once ordered whiskey glasses from Amazon. Six Glencairn glasses. One arrived broken, they said keep the rest of them and we will completely refund your money. Excuse me? WIN.
5. People say, you can’t fly a drone around my head and deliver me “Steel Magnolias” on VHS (do they still make those?), Amazon says YES WE CAN. TWICE.
Amazon exceeds expectations. I find their strategy of always having a long term vision and moving forward at their pace without letting others rush them to make quarterly earnings estimates etc. to be refreshing. I think of them immediately when I assess how I can provide more value with my products and under-promise then over-deliver. Following the lead of companies like these who force everyone to raise their game makes me excited for where the future of the internet is going. Yes, I know brick and mortar retail is falling by the wayside and jobs are being lost, but new jobs are being created and we must continue to move forward as a society. The market always changes and finds a way to provide more value and new jobs.
What do you think of Amazon?
Do you see them as friend or foe?
Are you inspired at all by their ability to manage their product flow? (Retail, Streaming Video, Cloud, Hosting, etc.)
